SFC’s Newest Investor Event at Home House Came with Two Invitations!

SFC’s Newest Investor Event at Home House Came with Two Invitations! Events

On Monday the 7th we had the pleasure of joining forces with Home House to hold a new edition of the Crocodile Lair, the name with which SFC’s investor event are known in the prestigious club. When you join the winners of UKBAA’s Angel Syndicate of the Year Award and London Lifestyle Awards’ Members Club of the Year, there is only one possible outcome: success!

The new pitching & networking event brought together some of the best upcoming British Start-ups and a room filled with investors and prospective investors. Once attendees grabbed their welcome drinks and took their seats, Stephen Page, SFC’s CEO, introduced Startup Funding Club to the first-timers present – who were more numerous than usual! Later on, the company’s investment manager, Joseph Zipfel, acquainted them to SFC’s investment process.

This event was different than the previous ones, as it had two invitations for the audience! The first one came from Startup Funding Club ourselves. We would like to invite everyone who wants to know more about investing in start-ups to our next event. This event will not be like our usual ones, it will have a more educational character. The occasion will be aimed at those who have already invested or are thinking of investing in early stage companies through investor-friendly SEIS and EIS schemes.

The second invitation came from one of the start-ups who were showcasing their business. Shout Out UK is a multi-award winning independent youth news network that connects intelligent, adventurous, and career-driven young people with the aim of getting them more active and interested in politics. The platform has asked its readers 'if you had a direct line with the Brexit Negotiating team, what would you like to come out of Brexit?' and put together a booklet with the answers. Shout Out UK are launching said booklet – “Brexit: A Youth Perspective” – and would like to invite everyone to their event on the 17th of November.

After these interesting propositions, it was the reminding start-ups’ turn to present their work – and they did a great job!

The Link App: their mission is to help law firms improve client communication by using a dedicated secure channel. A tool for lawyers designed by lawyers.

Cluboid: the start-up helps nightclubs and bars by equipping them with advanced customer relationship management software specifically designed for the nightlife industry.

Arctic Power Berries: their 100% pure berry powders are made with wild berries from Finland and are ideal smoothie/breakfast toppers. The company is now looking for support to release a new product: berry snacks!

Bespoke Bride: the award-winning blog is now also a curated wedding marketplace. The platform connects millions of users with innovative wedding suppliers and inspiring creativity!

Bibliotech: defining themselves as a Spotify for books, Bibliotech’s web app provides university students with all the textbooks they need at any time and from any device.

An SFC investor event wouldn’t be the same if it weren’t for the post-pitch festivities. So, when the entrepreneurs finished pitching, the networking began!

Attendees had the pleasure to enjoy the evening accompanied by canapés and drinks served by the lovely staff at Home House, whom we would like to thank for joining us once more! We would also like to express gratitude towards all start-ups and guests as well as our loyal supporters:
