Startup Funding Club (SFC) is delighted to have led the seed investment round into Sceenic, a B2B SaaS technology company that powers interactive co-viewing experiences for some of the world’s best media companies with its “Watch Together” software. Utilising its real-time video chat API and SDKs, Sceenic enables people who are physically apart to watch video and TV together.
Over 960m people subscribe to online video or TV packages worldwide and in Europe alone there are over 2,500 OTT (IPTV) platforms, representing a huge market opportunity for Sceenic’s “Watch Together” software. This has obvious applications around sporting events, e-sports and games, but also for television and video viewing in general, allowing people who are physically remote to be connected in a shared entertainment experience.
Some of the world’s biggest media companies are talking about the company: “Sceenic reflects what BT Sport is all about – which is bringing our audiences into our content, driving engagement and being a broadcaster that speaks with our fans.” Jamie Hindhaugh, COO at BT SPORT.
Startup Funding Club, who led Sceenic’s funding round together with the London Co-Investment Fund, join the company’s previous and existing investors – R/GA Ventures and NMA.VC.
“With our sight on the U.S. market and the expansion of Sceenic’s services across Europe, we are excited to have such experienced investors with us to supercharge the video viewing experience” says Paul Bojarski, CEO of Sceenic, along with his co-founders Aharon Yechezkel (CTO) and Jonathan Williams (COO).
Stephen Page, founder and CEO of Startup Funding Club, comments: “We have been following Sceenic for some time since co-viewing has been a big topic even before Facebook announced its ‘watch together’ solution. Impressed by the outstanding team around Paul, we are very pleased to close this seed round alongside the London Co-Investment Fund and the SFC Angel Network. Sceenic has built an effective API and SDK software solution for media companies and are leaders in the fan engagement wave of change happening right now.“
