Startup Funding Club's Pitching & Networking events are usually celebrated in central London locations. However, last week, the Angel Syndicate and Seed Investment Fund headed east to enjoy an evening of pitching at a venue overlooking two of London’s most iconic landmarks: Tower of London and Tower Bridge. It was an evening of novelty; new venue, new startups, new sponsors, and a new Investor Platform.
This time, SFC switched its regular private members clubs for citizenM Tower of London, a hotel. The trendy venue welcomed SFC’s guests to its cloudM space, an area located at the top of the building. Normally, Startup Funding Club counts with the presence of members from the private clubs where its events are held. Nonetheless, this time, the audience was made up solely of SFC’s Angel Syndicate and its members’ connections. Hence, it demonstrated that despite it is always advantageous to have club members at its events, the firm does not depend on them.
As per usual, Startup Funding Club’s CEO, addressed a few welcoming words to the audience. Afterwards, Page introduced them to SFC and the sponsors of the evening. In this occasion, SFC partnered with two of its regular sponsors – SFC Bennett Brooks and Stackhouse Poland – plus a newcomer – Withers Worldwide. Following these, Daniel Tait, SFC’s Dealflow Manager, announced the launch of the company’s new Investor Platform.
Startup Funding Club's Investor Platform is a step towards a more efficient syndication process. Furthermore, the new system will ease communication between startups and investors. Currently, the Investor Platform allows SFC investors to review investment opportunities, make enquiries, and register their interest in companies. Nonetheless, SFC will be adding new features in the coming weeks. An important characteristic of this platform is that, to keep the startups’ – and investors’ – information confidential, the platform is only available to registered users. New investor requests to join www.invest.startupfundingclub.com will be screened by the SFC Team before being granted access to the platform.
After the exciting announcement, it was time for the startups – most of which are part of SFC’s portfolio – to pitch:
Curamicus develops innovative assistive technology that helps reduce anxiety and suffering for elders and vulnerable people. This technology allows them to live safer, more fulfilling lives.
Inventtory is an online fully automated IP Exchange for buying and selling patents. The platform brings internationalisation, standardisation, and automation to the world of technology transfer.
CRESS Systems designs and manufactures cost-saving products for storage of electrical energy .
Garbanzo Snacks distributes healthy roast chickpeas snacks throughout the UK, Scandinavia, and the Netherlands. Its range is low-calorie, gluten free, and vegan.
Following the presentations, the wonderful staff at citizenM provided attendees with drinks and nibbles. The reception allowed for a more relaxed atmosphere in which entrepreneurs and investors had the chance to get to know each other – and their projects – better. Investors also took the opportunity to catch up with the SFC Team and learn more about further investment opportunities and the new Investor Platform. All parts had a pleasant and cheerful evening, with many complimented the new location – even if one needs to suffer the Circle Line to get there!
From Startup Funding Club, we would like to thank all parts involved in the event. From guests and presenters to the brilliant staff and our partners:
