Startup Funding Club announces the close of the first tranche of the 2017 SFC SEIS/EIS Funds at its last Investor Event at The Club at The Ivy.

Last Monday 10th April, Startup Funding Club held its first Investor Event after closing the first tranche of the 2017 Startup Funding Club SEIS/EIS Funds. The occasion took place at The Club at The Ivy – one of London’s best-known private members clubs – and gathered a crowd of investors looking to support innovative UK-based startups.

To begin the evening, guests enjoyed a brief drinks reception before taking their seats at The Ivy’s Loft. After addressing some welcoming words to the audience, Stephen Page, Startup Funding Club’s CEO, introduced his company’s mission.

Following this, Joseph Zipfel, reminded the audience about the different ways to invest through Startup Funding Club. SFC’s Investment Manager also announced the first close of the 2017 SFC Funds: the multi-sector SFC SEIS/EIS Fund and the Epicure SEIS Fund, dedicated to the Food, Beverage, and Wellness sector. Together, the two funds have invested in 25 companies, two of which were pitching at the event.

After the exciting announcement, Page introduced the sponsors of the evening. This time, long-term supporters SFC Bennett Brooks and Stackhouse Poland and a new partner, Ixion, backed SFC. Then, it was the startups’ turn to take to the stage and pitch their businesses:

Lokcom Networks – its technology enables doors to be opened remotely via its proprietary platform and secure router.

Trackener – a wearable monitoring and alert system for horses that detects and prevents health issues in them.

Intupod – providers of innovative and customisable design solutions to meet housing and shelter needs worldwide.

Areea – developers of products aimed at improving and preserving consumers’ health in urban environments.

Onkho – a cloud-based software that helps accountants manage their workflow and effectively communicate with clients.

Once the presentations came to an end, the team at The Ivy offered drinks and canapés to guests. These networking sessions are a crucial part of Startup Funding Club’s events, as they bring together investors and entrepreneurs. The networking allows investors and the showcased startups to get to know each other better and get into more detail about their projects in a more relaxed environment, and this time was no different.

To conclude, the SFC Team would like to thank everyone who took part in the event, from the amazing team at The Ivy to the presenters, guests, and our partners:

SFC Bennett Brooks – the quality accounting firm specialised in startups. Stackhouse Poland – providers of insurance solutions tailored to your needs. Ixion – they support innovative and ambitious businesses and help them win major grant funding.

Thanks for making of this event yet another success! We hope we’ll see you next month at a brand new location!
